Home

Well,

The three days went by very fast and it is good to be home. I am sure most of the kids went to sleep really early tonight as I know they were very worn out. My guess is that the parents went to bed even earlier!

I uploaded the last pictures from one of the cameras, so I hope you enjoy them. I have not edited the pictures - only sent all that we took. I have some short video's taken with the digital camera and I will try and get those to work on here when I have time. I hope you have enjoyed these pictures as much as I enjoyed taking them and being there with the kids. Each and every one of them was special and I learned as much from them as I hope they learned from me and the other adults.

I have to take a moment and thank all the teachers that helped make Sky Ranch happen. The trip was very smooth and educational for the students. It is easy to take for granted that we just got on a bus, spent a few days at the camp and then came home. Now, mix in many dozen 5th graders and let me tell you that I was very thankful they were right there with us. It is magical watching the teachers do "work" by simply looking at a kid. They understand, believe me!

Have a great week!

Visiting Sky Ranch

[From Andrew Ruiz - 5th Grade - Ms. Englade ]

I've really enjoyed being with the mayor. We went on a scavenger hunt to find a bunch of stuff. And we had a bon fire. We had to do a skit and I think our group was the best. :] Gordon has been hilarious and has been annoying as well. Sky ranch was a lot of fun and I learned a lot while I was here.

Luis's Story

From Luis Nunez - 5th Grade - Ms. Golata

First we got off the bus,Then we ate lunch it was delicious. My favorite thing about SkyRanch was rec time.I loved playing soccer and volleyball. The girls always won the soccer games, because they cheat. But the boys always play fair.

But the best part was I had all my friends in my cabin. My least favorite part was class. My favorite class was challenges.I liked mayor maso, because He told us a lot of things about the city.He told us that theres going to be a skatepark in Frisco. Thanks for reading my blog.

PS Gordan snores.

Hello from William Petersson

Here at Sky Ranch the Tiger heads are in cabin 16, side A.The 1st day, we had lunch, put our stuff in our cabins, and had our 1st class. Challenges. Then we had rec time. For the 1st hour we could play soccer, basketball, tether ball, horseshoes, or you could go to the feed lot. There they had milkshakes, skittles, and other types of candy.

Today, we ate breakfast, had our second class at Sky Ranch.Forces of Nature. We learned the 5 of them. Then we had lunch. Next, we had Limnology the study of fresh water. After that we had dinner. Then we went to our campfire. It was AWESOME!

Tuesday Happenings

What can I say? It has been a very busy day. Parents, you can expect your children to come home very very tired! It is non-stop educational events with some fun thrown in. Somehow, I got talked into being one of the test-subjects on the zip-line. I never understood how that works. Can we have volunteers, someone asks and I don't raise my hand.. Next thing you know..

Pictures are being uploaded of today's events. It is VERY VERY slow in uploading, so check back often. It will probably take the next couple of hours and, in fact, I downsized one of the photo albums in my attempt to speed it up.

More later, we are heading out for evening skits at the bonfire!

We will see you back at Curtsinger tomorrow!

A very long Monday

Well, here it is almost 11PM and we are finally calming down for the night. It was a fun-filled day for the kids (and adults!). It looks like my blackberry is allowing me limited connectivity through the laptop, so I am able to do a very simple blog and picture upload.

The blogs will be short, if I am able to keep them up at all. However, there is a picture link on the left and I will try and post pictures as soon as I get access to my laptop during the day. There should be close to 200 pictures from today.

The trip to Skyranch was uneventful, but we sure hit the ground running. A quick visit to our cabin (without unpacking) and off to lunch at noon. After lunch, we split off into our groups to work on some "challenges". Our team did a great job and it was fun watching them figure things out. They were quick to pick up on the idea of teamwork!

After the challenges, we had some free time. As you can tell by the pictures, it was a fun-filled free time! Soccer, basketball, shakes and malts, bounce fun, etc.. Some of the kids that had the shakes before the bounce fun had to make a quick run to the nurse :-)

We followed the free time with a very nice dinner, a short break (30 minutes) in our cabin and then off for some evening excitement. We had our very own treasure hunt in the dark. Our cabin, #16, did a great job and, in fact, we brought home the very sought after prize: The "rock"!

Okay, take a very long and tiring day with lots of snacks (as in sugar), add a very fun treasure hunt and then stick them in a room with one adult and tell them to go to bed and guess what you have? Yep, some very wild kids! Lucky for me that I brought a movie that I was able to play in my laptop for them. I am typing this as the last one finally gone to sleep..ahh.. quite at last :-)

Tomorrow should be an exciting day - If I can wake them up on time!

On the Way

Okay, this was a last minute idea - so here we go. Maso's Tigerheads are going to attempt to keep a blog of our Skyranch visit. Now, that is dependent on whether we will have internet access at Skyranch. We are writing this from the bus ride over and the blog template is not entirely set up yet. We will do our best! This may be short lived if the we can't get access out there (we are using a blackberry "tether" to do this on the bus).

Maso's Tigers are made up of, Reid, Luis, Taylor, William, Andrew, George, Gordon, John Wesley and, of course me, Maher Maso.

The start of the trip was great. It was fun watching all the mom's get excited for the kids as we left. Watching them as our bus pulled away, I was not sure if the excitement was due to not having the kids around for a few days or excited for them on this trip. I have a feeling it was both :-)

The ride to skyranch is a slow one as the bus is driving at 50MPH :-) We will check in when we get there. Our tigerhead team will be adding pictures as we take them. See you all soon!

Maher and the tiger heads!
